Corral del Carbón

Corral del Carbf3n is a 14th-century Nasrid-era alhf3ndiga and caravanserai in Granada, Andalusia, notable as one of the best-preserved examples of its type in Spain.

The building’s ornate stone entrance and horseshoe arch draw attention from the street, leading into a compact rectangular courtyard surrounded by arcades. The interior is used for temporary exhibitions and cultural events, and its intact plan illustrates medieval commercial architecture.

Constructed in the Nasrid period in the 14th century as an alhf3ndiga and caravanserai, it served as a warehouse and lodging for merchants. After the Reconquista the building’s function changed several times and it survived urban redevelopment; it has been restored and adapted for public and cultural use in modern times.

Sited in central Granada near Plaza Nueva, the building sits within the historic core of the city and is a short walk from the Alhambra and the Albaicedn district.
