Conguillío Lake (Laguna Conguillío) is a lake in Chile’s Araucanía Region situated within Conguillío National Park and framed by volcanic terrain. The lake is one of the park’s principal scenic features and is closely associated with the nearby Llaima volcano.
Shorelines around the lake and the park’s trail network provide viewpoints of volcanic cones, lava fields and stands of native Araucaria trees. The landscape shows clear evidence of historic volcanic activity, and the combination of forest, water and volcano draws hikers and photographers.
The basin containing the lake was shaped by volcanic eruptions and lava flows from Llaima that altered drainage patterns and formed lagoons and lakes in the valley. Park management focuses on conserving volcanic landforms and native forest ecosystems while allowing controlled visitor access.
