From São Luís to Codó the road journey is long (around 3.5-5 hours depending on route and traffic); intercity buses run between the cities and fares typically range from R$40-R$120 with travel times of roughly 4-6 hours.
Teresina-Senador Petrônio Portella Airport (THE): Teresina in neighbouring Piauí is another regional hub sometimes used to access northern Maranhão; travel times to Codó by road are several hours and vary widely depending on route and connections, with bus fares similar to the São Luís route.
Train: There is no regular passenger rail service to Codó; passenger travel in northern Brazil is overwhelmingly by road.
