Cinca (Spain)
Stream River in Aragon, tributary of the Ebro
The Cinca River cuts through Aragon across canyons and towns such as Aínsa. Visitors kayak or fish its waters, walk riverside trails and explore medieval villages on the banks.
The Cinca is a river in Aragon, northeastern Spain, that drains from the central Pyrenees and is a tributary of the Ebro River. It runs through mountain valleys and lower plains, contributing to regional irrigation and riverine landscapes.
Upper reaches of the river flow through steep, narrow valleys and are used for outdoor activities such as kayaking and fishing in sections with suitable conditions. Lower down the course it runs through agricultural plains where it supports irrigation and local towns.
Historically the river has been part of regional transport and agricultural systems and today is managed for water supply and flood control alongside recreational uses. Reservoirs and river engineering appear in parts of its course to regulate flows.
The Cinca lies within the autonomous community of Aragon in northeastern Spain, originating in the Pyrenean highlands and joining the Ebro River within the Ebro basin.
- Hydrology: A tributary of the Ebro that rises in the Pyrenees and shapes several local valleys in Aragon before joining the Ebro basin.
