The Church of Domine Quo Vadis is a small chapel on the Via Appia Antica in Rome associated with the tradition in which Saint Peter met the risen Christ and asked “Domine, quo vadis?”.
The interior displays a slab linked to the footprint tradition and contains frescoes and devotional imagery; the building is compact and usually visited as part of a walk along the Appian Way.
The present chapel was built on earlier Christian foundations and was reconstructed in the early modern period; it stands amid other early-Christian monuments on the Appian Way just outside Rome’s ancient walls.
