Chojnik Castle is a ruined medieval fortress perched on Chojnik hill above the town of Jelenia Góra in Lower Silesia, southwestern Poland. It is a prominent hilltop ruin that is a popular short-hike destination in the Karkonosze foothills.
Visitors explore the castle ruins, defensive walls and rocky outcrops with views across the surrounding forests and valleys. The site is commonly combined with walking routes through the Śląski Kraj (Silesian) landscape.
The castle was established in the Middle Ages by regional Piast rulers and served as a defensive and residential stronghold. It was struck by lightning and heavily damaged in 1675 and subsequently fell into ruin.
Chojnik sits a short drive or hike from Jelenia Góra in Lower Silesian Voivodeship, positioned in the forested foothills of the Karkonosze mountain range.
