Château de Langeais

Château de Langeais is a fortified castle in the town of Langeais, Indre-et-Loire, in the Loire Valley, with a surviving medieval keep and a later 15th-century residence noted for its preserved interiors.

The complex combines a compact fortified keep with a grand late-medieval residence displaying furnished rooms, tapestries, and period decoration; the interior gives a clear sense of aristocratic domestic arrangements of the period. The château’s location on the Loire plain and its gardens are also visited for short walks and views of the surrounding countryside.

The site has medieval origins and the present principal buildings date from the 15th century; the château is especially remembered as the place where Anne of Brittany and Charles VIII were married in 1491.
