Cerro Catedral is a mountain and major ski centre in Río Negro province of Argentina, located in the Nahuel Huapi National Park region near San Carlos de Bariloche. It is one of the country’s principal alpine resorts and a focal point for winter sports.

The resort offers a network of lifts, marked pistes and snowmaking where required, with facilities concentrated at a main base area and lift-served summit sectors that provide runs of varying difficulty. Outside the ski season visitors use the mountain for hiking and scenic viewpoints that overlook Nahuel Huapi Lake.

Alpine development on Cerro Catedral expanded through the 20th century to support winter tourism out of Bariloche; infrastructure and trail systems were progressively added to serve growing visitor numbers.

The mountain lies roughly 20 km west of San Carlos de Bariloche in northern Patagonia, on the eastern side of the Andes.

How to Get to Cerro Catedral #

Cerro Catedral is about 19 km west of San Carlos de Bariloche’s city center. From Bariloche, regular buses and shuttle services run to the Cerro Catedral ski area (roughly 30-40 minutes). Driving via RN 237/S867 is straightforward in summer; winter conditions require appropriate tires and attention to closures.
