Cerro Castor is a ski resort and mountain in Tierra del Fuego Province, Argentina, notable for being the southernmost ski resort in the world and for serving the Ushuaia region. It opened as an organised downhill skiing area in 1999.
The resort features groomed pistes, ski lifts and snowmaking infrastructure that support alpine skiing, snowboard and snow-tourism activities; the season is among the longest in South America, commonly running through the southern winter months. Facilities at the base include rental and instruction services for winter sports.
Cerro Castor was developed in the late 1990s to provide year-round mountain recreation for the Ushuaia area and has since become the principal downhill ski area serving that part of Tierra del Fuego. Infrastructure has expanded around the base area to support tourists and winter sport operators.
The mountain sits in the Fuegian Andes on the outskirts of the Ushuaia valley, on the main road leading away from the city of Ushuaia in southern Tierra del Fuego.
