Cattai National Park is a protected area in New South Wales that conserves Hawkesbury River floodplain, creek corridors and an early colonial homestead precinct. The park includes both natural riverine habitats and cultural heritage sites.

Visitors can use riverside picnic areas, short walking tracks and viewpoints over the Hawkesbury River and adjacent wetlands. The park’s mix of river flats, woodlands and heritage buildings makes it popular for day visits, bushwalking and low-key boating access.

The park contains the Cattai Homestead, an early 19th-century farm complex that is preserved as a historic site within the park and interpreted for visitors. The landscape reflects both Aboriginal and colonial-era land use along the Hawkesbury.

The park lies on the Hawkesbury River north-west of the Sydney metropolitan area, close to the town of Windsor and accessible from the greater Sydney region.

  • Heritage homestead: contains the heritage-listed Cattai Homestead, an early colonial farmstead preserved within the parkland.
  • Recreation and river access: offers riverside picnic areas and walking tracks that follow the Hawkesbury River and Cattai Creek.

What to See #

  • Cattai Homestead Precinct: an early 19th-century homestead and its associated outbuildings form the historic core within the park; the homestead precinct is heritage-listed and interprets colonial farming life.
  • Hawkesbury River foreshore: Hawkesbury River foreshore and river flats provide riverside walking, picnic spots and informal boat access points along the park's river edge.
