A small coastal castle ruin located in the village of Castell de Ferro on the Costa Tropical in the province of Granada. It is a locally prominent landmark overlooking the Mediterranean shore.
Ruined masonry and the remains of defensive walls and towers sit on a rocky promontory immediately above the town beach and harbour. The site is visible from the seafront and offers panoramic views across the bay and along the coastline.
Constructed in the medieval period as a coastal defensive point and watchpost, the structure was adapted and repaired at different times before falling into ruin. It functioned historically to guard the coastal settlement and approaches from the sea.
Positioned on the shoreline of Castell de Ferro on the Granada coast, midway along the Costa Tropical between the towns of Motril and Almuñécar. The castle dominates the immediate beach and harbour area of the village.
