How to Get to Caruaru

Caruaru is best reached by road from Recife, which has the nearest major airport (REC) and frequent long‑distance buses to the city. The city has a central bus terminal (Terminal Rodoviário de Caruaru) for regional connections; there is no regular intercity passenger rail service.

By Air

Recife/Guararapes-Gilberto Freyre International Airport (REC): The main airport serving Caruaru is Recife (REC), about 120-140 km east of Caruaru. From REC you can take a direct intercity bus from the Terminal Rodoviário do Recife to Terminal Rodoviário de Caruaru (typical fare roughly R$25-45, journey ~2-2.5 hours). Taxis or ride‑hail from the airport to Caruaru take about 2-2.5 hours and typically cost in the range of R$250-400 depending on demand and provider; private airport transfers will be pricier but faster and door‑to‑door.

João Pessoa-Presidente Castro Pinto (JPA): João Pessoa is a secondary option to the north (about 150-180 km).
