Cape of Rodon
Cape Albanian cape with Ottoman-era Rodoni Castle ruins
Kepi i Rodonit projects north of Durrës with rocky cliffs and the ruins of Rodoni Castle; visitors explore the castle, coastal walks and small fishing villages.
The Cape of Rodon, also called Kepi i Rodonit, is a promontory on Albania’s central Adriatic coast in Durrës County. The cape projects into the Adriatic and has been a coastal landmark since medieval times.
A principal historic feature is the remains of a fortress built by Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg in 1463 to defend the coast and local harbours. The castle survives in ruin and is a focal point for visitors interested in the medieval history of the region.
The headland features rocky shorelines, small beaches and coastal scrub, and offers viewpoints over the Adriatic. The cape lies north of the city of Durrës and is part of the central Albanian coastline.
- Historic castle: Contains the ruins of a 15th century castle constructed by the Albanian national leader Skanderbeg in 1463.

Tips for Visiting Cape of Rodon #
- Visit late afternoon toward sunset to get the best light on Rodoni Castle and the limestone promontory without the mid-day heat that keeps many people away.
- Park at the small lot by the castle ruins and follow the coastal path toward the tip of the cape to find quieter coves and viewpoints that most visitors miss when they only view the fortress.
- Combine the cape walk with a short stop in the nearby coastal villages for local seafood and to support small businesses; the castle and immediate coastline are the main attractions and are best explored on foot.
