A low headland on the Channel near Calais, Cap Gris-Nez draws coastal walkers for its lighthouse, wartime bunkers and, on clear days, views across to the English coast.
Cap Gris-Nez is a prominent headland on the French coast of the English Channel in the Hauts-de-France region, named for its grey stone appearance. It is one of the closest French points to England and contains coastal defences and navigational aids.
The headland offers cliff-top walking, interpretive panels and viewing points from which the English coastline can be seen on clear days. Remains of historic fortifications and 20th-century military installations are present and there are lighthouses marking the headland.
