Campo del Moro

Campo del Moro is a landscaped garden and park area on the western side of the Royal Palace in Madrid, Spain. It is a romantic-style garden laid out with promenades, trees, terraces and water features that complement the palace grounds.

The garden offers avenues, terraces and framed views across lawns and fountains toward the palace facade and the surrounding city parkland. It is used for walking and as a green buffer between the palace and the lower riverside landscape.

The garden was developed as part of the palace grounds and took shape during 19th-century landscaping efforts to create a formal western approach to the Royal Palace. Over time it has remained a managed public garden within the palace complex.

Campo del Moro sits immediately west of the Royal Palace in central Madrid, within easy walking distance of other central sites such as Plaza de Oriente and the historic city centre. It is accessed on foot from surrounding streets and palace entrances.

• Best viewing time: Best light for views of the Royal Palace and palace facades is late afternoon to early evening when the western garden faces the setting sun.
• Access and relation to the Royal Palace: Access is on foot from central Madrid and it forms the western grounds of the Royal Palace, offering quieter green space compared with the Plaza de Oriente to the east.
