How to Get to Camaná
Camaná is a coastal city in Peru's Arequipa department best reached by road from Arequipa (AQP). Most visitors fly into Arequipa and then take a scheduled bus or private transfer south to Camaná.
Rodríguez Ballón Airport, Arequipa (AQP): Arequipa’s airport is the nearest major airport for southern Arequipa Department. From AQP you can travel by taxi to Arequipa city centre (about 20-30 minutes) and then take a long‑distance bus to Camaná; the bus trip from Arequipa to Camaná typically takes around 3-4 hours depending on the route and stops.
Jorge Chávez International Airport, Lima (LIM): Some visitors arrive via Lima and then take a domestic flight to Arequipa (AQP) before continuing by road to Camaná; overland from Lima is much longer and less common for most travellers.
Train: There is no regular passenger train service serving Camaná; rail is not a practical option.
Bus: Regular interprovincial bus companies run from Arequipa’s bus terminals (e.g., Terminal Terrestre) to Camaná. Journey time from Arequipa city is roughly 3-4 hours; buses range from basic to executive coaches. From Lima there are overnight or daytime long‑distance buses to Arequipa and then connections onward to Camaná.
How to Get Around Camaná #
Camaná’s centre is reasonably walkable, especially along the main streets and seaside esplanade. Local taxis and colectivos (shared vans) handle short trips; interprovincial buses connect Camaná with Arequipa and coastal towns.
