Main image

Burrowa-Pine Mountain National Park protects a rugged section of north-east Victoria with extensive granite outcrops and remote river country. The park’s principal features are large granite formations and a network of walking routes through forested and rocky terrain.

Visitors use the park for multi-day bushwalking, day hikes and backcountry nature observation; the landscape is notable for its rock platforms, ridgelines and relatively remote feel compared with coastal parks. Access is by sealed and unsealed roads with walking tracks leading into the park from trailheads.

The park was created to conserve distinctive geological features and native habitats, and it remains managed for conservation and low-intensity recreation.

The park lies in north-east Victoria inland from the Murray River region and is a drive of several hours from Melbourne.

  • Pine Mountain access: Pine Mountain is the park's signature granite feature and is accessed by walking routes that follow exposed rock and ridgelines rather than formed roads.
