Burggarten is a public park in central Vienna, Austria, located next to the Hofburg palace complex. It originated as part of the Habsburgs’ imperial court gardens and today functions as a small urban park in the Innere Stadt.
The park includes the historic Palmenhaus, a glass palm house that contains the city’s Butterfly House (Schmetterlinghaus) and a café, as well as lawns, tree-lined paths and formal plantings. A bronze monument to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart stands in the park, and the site lies within easy walking distance of the Albertina and the Vienna State Opera.
Originally developed as private imperial gardens for the Hofburg, the area was reconfigured through the 19th and early 20th centuries with the addition of garden layouts and the Palm House structure. Over time it transitioned from a court garden to a public urban park under municipal administration.
Sited in the Innere Stadt district, the park sits immediately north of the Hofburg palace and Heldenplatz in central Vienna, placing it within the central museum and historic district of the city.
- Palmenhaus / Butterfly House: Contains the city's historic Palm House which houses a butterfly exhibition and a café, making late spring to early autumn the best season to see live butterflies.
- Location advantage: Sits immediately adjacent to the Hofburg palace complex, providing an easily accessible green space within Vienna's Innere Stadt.

- Palmenhaus (Palm House) and Schmetterlinghaus: A large glass greenhouse built at the edge of the park that houses a tropical plant collection and the city's Butterfly House (Schmetterlinghaus). The structure dates to the historic period of Viennese glasshouse construction and contains visitor facilities including a café.
