How to Get to Budawang National Park #
The park is roughly 120-200 km south of Sydney depending on which access point; the closest towns are Ulladulla and Nerriga. From Nowra take the Shoalhaven or Braidwood roads south, turning onto sealed and then unsealed management roads to specific trailheads (check NSW National Parks site for access). A high-clearance vehicle is recommended for some access tracks.
Tips for Visiting Budawang National Park #
- Start early to climb Mount Budawang (one of the park's dramatic sandstone outcrops) and avoid afternoon thunderstorms.
- Bring a good map and GPS: many tracks are unsealed and signage is minimal; phone reception is patchy.
- Respect Aboriginal cultural sites-some areas are sensitive and access is restricted at times.
