How to Get to Bran
Bran is best reached by road from Brașov or Bucharest; Brașov is the nearest major rail hub and Bucharest the main international airport. From Brașov take a short bus or taxi to Bran - trains only get you to Brașov, not into Bran itself.
Henri Coandă International / Bucharest Otopeni (OTP): Bucharest is the main international arrival point for many visitors to Bran. From Bucharest to Bran is a roughly 2.5-3.5 hour drive depending on traffic; taxis or private transfers take about 3 hours and can cost the equivalent of €60-€120.
Sibiu / Brașov regional airports: Brașov-Ghimbav Airport (recently opened) and Sibiu Airport offer regional connections; Brașov city is the closest rail hub. Flights to these airports reduce road time - from Brașov to Bran is about 45-60 minutes by road.
Train: Trains from Bucharest to Brașov run frequently (journey about 2.5-3 hours). From Brașov station (Gara Brașov) you can continue to Bran by bus or taxi; trains do not go directly to Bran.
Bus: Regular buses and minibuses run from Brașov’s bus stations to Bran; the trip takes approximately 45-60 minutes and fares are typically affordable (a small number of euros / tens of Romanian lei). Seasonal shuttle buses also operate during high tourist season.
How to Get Around Bran #
Bran’s center is small and very walkable; most visitors move between the castle, shops and restaurants on foot. The town is commonly reached by regional buses or minibuses from Brașov, and there are taxis for shorter hops. Having a car is handy for exploring surrounding sites and villages. Buses to and from Brașov run regularly and generally cost only a few euros, while taxis are pricier for longer trips.
