Regular local buses and tourist coaches run from Cork city to Blarney village, and the castle is an easy 5-10 minute walk from the local bus stops.
Tips for Visiting Blarney Castle #
- Get there at opening to beat the longest queues for the Blarney Stone - first arrivals often wait much less to reach the battlements.
- Enter through the main castle grounds and spend time in the surrounding Gardens before climbing the castle; the Victorian Walled Garden, the Poison Garden and the Rock Close are often overlooked yet included in admission.
- If you want to avoid the bulk of day-trippers, visit mid-to-late afternoon or an off-peak weekday when coach parties have usually left.
