The Belep Islands are a small archipelago in New Caledonia’s North Province, located off the northern tip of Grande Terre. The group comprises several low islands and islets with fringing reefs and lagoon environments, and it is part of New Caledonia’s more remote outer island territories.
The islands are sparsely populated by indigenous Kanak communities and are notable for traditional fishing, reef ecosystems and birdlife. Access is generally by small boat and facilities are limited, so visits require planning and local arrangements.
