Beaufort Castle, Luxembourg

Beaufort Castle is a castle complex in Beaufort in eastern Luxembourg, comprising medieval fortifications and later residential additions. The site presents both ruined defensive structures and a more refined lower residence built in a subsequent period.

Visitors explore surviving ramparts, curtain walls and the elevated keep area of the upper stronghold, then walk down to the lower castle which shows later domestic architecture. The upper areas offer panoramic views over the surrounding valley and countryside.

Origins of the site lie in the medieval period with major phases of rebuilding and modification in later centuries, producing the distinct upper and lower sections visible today. The castle is located in the town of Beaufort in the Canton of Echternach in eastern Luxembourg.
