Basilica of Candelaria

The Basilica of Candelaria is a major Roman Catholic Marian shrine in the town of Candelaria on the island of Tenerife in the Canary Islands. It is dedicated to the Virgin of Candelaria, the patroness of the Canary Islands, and is an important pilgrimage destination.

The basilica contains the venerated image of the Virgin and a spacious nave and sanctuary for liturgical events and pilgrim visits. A wide plaza in front of the church features statues of the indigenous Guanche kings and provides a public gathering space for processions and festivals.
