The Basílica de Santa María la Real de Covadonga is a neo-Romanesque basilica in Covadonga, Asturias, in northern Spain and a principal Marian shrine for the region. It was built in the late 19th century and completed around the turn of the 20th century.
The basilica sits directly before the cave sanctuary that contains the statue of the Virgin known as La Santina, and many visits combine the church with the cave chapel. The nearby Lakes of Covadonga, Enol and Ercina, lie within a few kilometres and are common stops on the same day trip.
The church was constructed in the late 19th century in a neo-Romanesque style using local pink limestone and was completed around 1900. It became the focal point for devotional activity associated with the Covadonga site and the surrounding mountain landscape.
