Barycz Valley Landscape Park

Barycz Valley Landscape Park is a protected landscape area in Lower Silesian Voivodeship in south-western Poland, centred on the valley of the Barycz River. It is notable for its extensive system of ponds and wetlands which support rich birdlife and traditional fish-farming.

The park offers lowland wetland landscapes, boardwalks and trails, and several observation hides used for birdwatching and nature education. Key attractions include the large carp pond systems around Milicz which draw photographers and ornithologists.

The protected status was created to conserve the valley’s mosaic of rivers, oxbow lakes and man-made ponds and to maintain traditional land uses such as extensive fish-farming. The area has been managed to support both biodiversity and local rural economies.

Geographically the park runs along the Barycz River in western Poland, with the town of Milicz at the heart of the pond complex. It lies within reach of Wrocław to the south-west and is accessed from local towns such as Milicz and Odolanów.
