Barranco de Las Angustias is a deep ravine on the western side of La Palma in the Canary Islands. The gorge cuts through volcanic rock from the island highlands down toward the western coast.
The ravine features steep walls, exposed volcanic layers, and a network of paths and viewpoints that offer views into the gorge and across the western coastal plain. Hikers use established routes along parts of the ravine rim and descending trails where permitted.
The landform is the result of erosion of volcanic terrain and drainage from the island interior rather than a single construction event. Over time the ravine has developed the steep-sided profile visible today.
The ravine lies on La Palma’s west flank and descends from the central highlands toward the coastal area near Los Llanos de Aridane and the western shoreline of the island.
