The Barossa Valley is a major wine-producing region in South Australia, centred on towns such as Tanunda, Nuriootpa and Angaston. It is internationally known for high-quality Shiraz and other varietals and for its long viticultural history.

Visitors can follow cellar-door trails through vineyards, sample regional Shiraz and other wines, and explore heritage German-settlement towns with 19th-century buildings. The valley contains a dense concentration of wineries and tasting rooms within a compact area.

European settlement and commercial viticulture date to the 19th century, with German immigrants establishing many of the early vineyards and towns. Over successive generations the region developed a reputation for robust red wines and an enduring wine industry infrastructure.
