Barmah National Park is a protected area in northern Victoria, Australia, conserving extensive River Red Gum forest on the Murray River floodplain. It protects one of the largest contiguous stands of River Red Gum trees in the world and is important for wetland and floodplain ecosystems.
The park’s main attractions are its river red gum forests and associated wetlands, which provide habitat for waterbirds, mammals, and fish. Recreational opportunities include walking tracks, canoeing and boating on creeks and backwaters, birdwatching and low-impact camping at designated sites.
The area is traditional land of the Yorta Yorta people and remains culturally significant to them. European river regulation and land-use changes have altered the flood regime over the past century; the area is now managed for conservation and recreation to protect its floodplain habitats.
