Baradla Cave is a major dripstone cave in northeastern Hungary, part of the Aggtelek Karst region and recognised within the UNESCO World Heritage property covering caves of the Aggtelek and Slovak Karst. It is one of Hungary’s principal show caves, known for long galleries and rich stalactite and stalagmite formations.
Visitors experience developed, guided routes through decorated chambers and extensive galleries; some larger halls are notable for good acoustics and are occasionally used for musical performances. The cave system continues across the border into Slovakia where it links with the Domica caves, forming a transboundary karst network.
The Baradla entrance area and tourist facilities are located in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County near the village of Aggtelek, in a karst landscape of sinkholes, limestone cliffs and forested hills.

How to Get to Baradla cave #
From Miskolc or Eger, take regional bus services toward Aggtelek village (Aggtelek község). The main entrance to Baradla is a short walk from the village centre. Driving: follow Route 26 toward Aggtelek; parking is available near the visitor centre.

- Book the guided tours in advance during high season; some passages and concert events in the cave require pre-booked spots.
- Bring a light jacket - the cave is around 9-11°C year-round and can be damp underfoot.
- Attend a cave concert if dates align; the acoustic dripstones make for an unforgettable, slightly eerie experience.
