Baníkov is a mountain peak in the Western Tatras (Západné Tatry) of northern Slovakia, located in the Žilina Region. It is prominent within the ridge line of the Western Tatras and is frequently visited by hikers.

A marked mountain route leads to the summit, which offers broad views across the Western Tatras and neighbouring valleys; the ascent includes alpine terrain and exposed sections that require sure-footedness. The peak is popular with day hikers and mountaineers from surrounding valleys.

The mountain is a natural feature formed by the same geological processes that created the Tatra range; it has long been used for seasonal grazing and, in more recent centuries, for recreational mountain tourism. Trails and route markers were established as the Tatra area developed for hiking.

Baníkov stands within the Western Tatra range in the Žilina Region of Slovakia, set above the valleys and high alpine meadows of the national park area. Access is from mountain trails that connect to valley trailheads within the Western Tatras.

  • Elevation: The summit reaches an elevation of 2,178 metres, making it one of the higher peaks of the Western Tatras and a distinct target for alpine hikers.
