Babia Góra National Park
National Park Mountain national park centered on Babia Góra peak
Sitting on the Polish-Slovak border, Babia Góra National Park centers on the summit of Babia Góra; hikers tackle ridges and alpine meadows, observe subalpine flora and follow marked trails with long-distance views across the Beskids.
Babia Góra National Park protects the Babia Góra massif in southern Poland, preserving high-mountain habitats, peatlands and alpine meadows. The park centers on the peak known as Diablak, which is the highest point of the range.
Trails lead to the summit and to ridge panoramas; the area is known for rapid weather changes and regular cloud inversions that can create sea-of-clouds effects below the summit. Vegetation zones change from mixed forest on lower slopes to alpine grassland near the top.
Protection of the massif aims to conserve its rare montane ecosystems and traditional mountain landscapes; scientific monitoring and regulated access guide visitor use. The park supports hiking, nature observation and seasonal outdoor activities.
The park lies on Poland’s southern border with Slovakia and is part of the Beskid mountain range; access is by road from nearby towns in Lesser Poland Voivodeship and via marked mountain trails.
