How to Get to Azogues
Azogues is most conveniently reached via Cuenca's Mariscal Lamar Airport or by road from Cuenca city. Local buses and taxis make the short transfer between Cuenca and Azogues easy and very cheap.
Mariscal Lamar Airport - Cuenca (CUE): The nearest airport, about 20-40 minutes from Azogues by road. Taxis cost roughly USD 10-20 and take about 25-40 minutes depending on traffic.
José Joaquín de Olmedo - Guayaquil (GYE) / Quito (UIO): International travellers usually fly into Guayaquil or Quito and then continue by bus or domestic flight to Cuenca; bus journeys from Quito to Azogues/Cuenca are long (7-10 hours) while flights to Cuenca are much faster.
Train: Ecuador’s passenger rail network is limited; there is no regular long-distance passenger service to Azogues.
