Australia Zoo

Australia Zoo is a large wildlife park on the Sunshine Coast in Queensland, founded by Bob and Lyn Irwin and later expanded under Steve Irwin’s leadership. It is known for its wildlife shows, conservation work, and hands-on visitor experiences.

The site features themed areas and daily presentations, with a prominent amphitheatre used for crocodile demonstrations and other animal shows. The on-site wildlife hospital provides treatment and rehabilitation for injured native animals and is part of the zoo’s conservation operations.

Over decades the facility grew from a small reptile park into a major tourist destination and conservation organisation, expanding exhibits and care facilities while developing education and outreach programmes.

Australia Zoo is in Beerwah, roughly an hour’s drive north of Brisbane and within easy reach of Sunshine Coast resort towns; it is typically visited by private car, coach tours, or organised day trips from Brisbane and the Sunshine Coast.
