The Atalaya de Níjar is a coastal watchtower in the municipality of Níjar, Almería province, Andalusia, located within the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park. It served as a maritime lookout for surveillance of the Mediterranean coast.
The tower is a small stone structure sited on a coastal ridge that provides views over nearby coves and the open sea. The immediate area is used for short walks and photography rather than long hikes.
The tower formed part of the wider network of coastal watchtowers and fortifications used to monitor shipping and warn of raids from the sea; it fell out of military use as coastal defenses modernized. Over time the structure has become a ruin and a local historic landmark.
The site sits on the southeastern coast of Spain within the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park, in the municipality of Níjar, Almería province.
