Arezzo Cathedral

Arezzo Cathedral is the principal Roman Catholic church of Arezzo in Tuscany and the seat of the local diocese. Construction spans the late medieval and Renaissance periods and the building is primarily Gothic in style with later additions.

The interior contains important liturgical furnishings and significant stained glass windows executed in the early 16th century by Guillaume de Marcillat, among other artworks. Visitors commonly approach the cathedral as part of Arezzo’s historic city center circuit and view both the exterior elevation and the interior chapels.

The present cathedral was built in stages from the 13th century into the 16th century, replacing earlier church buildings on the same site and undergoing later restorations and additions. Its development reflects the shifting architectural styles of medieval and Renaissance Tuscany.
