The Archaeological Museum of Corfu is the principal museum for the island of Corfu (Kerkyra) in the Ionian Islands, Greece. It preserves and displays archaeological finds from the island spanning prehistoric through Roman periods.
Collections include pottery, sculpture and mosaics recovered across Corfu, with notable examples from the Archaic and Classical periods; the museum’s exhibits illustrate material culture from several millennia. The displays are concentrated in a single purpose-built museum building arranged by period and site of discovery.
The museum’s holdings were assembled from excavations and chance finds across Corfu carried out during the 19th and 20th centuries and have been displayed in successive museum buildings since those campaigns. Over time the collection has become the main repository for island archaeology and for objects from the temple complex at ancient Corcyra.
Located in Corfu town on the island of Corfu, the museum sits within the island’s principal urban area and is accessible from the town centre.
