Araki is a small inhabited island in Sanma Province, Vanuatu, located off the eastern coast of Espiritu Santo. It is notable for being the traditional home of the Araki language.
The island has been inhabited by Ni-Vanuatu communities and retains local traditions; over the 20th and 21st centuries the island’s traditional language has declined as residents shift to wider regional languages.
Araki sits just off the east coast of Espiritu Santo in Sanma Province, northern Vanuatu, reachable by boat from the main towns on Espiritu Santo.
