Andersson Island
Island Small Antarctic island near South Orkney Islands
Andersson Island is a small, uninhabited island located in the Antarctic region near the tip of the Antarctic Peninsula. It lies in waters used by research and passage traffic through the northern approach to the Peninsula.
The island is largely natural and undeveloped, with terrain typical of subantarctic and Antarctic islands - rocky shores, cliffs and limited vegetation. It is visited sporadically by research personnel and expedition vessels rather than being a sustained tourist destination.
There is little built infrastructure on the island, and any visits are subject to Antarctic Treaty environmental regulations and the logistical constraints of polar travel.
