Built during the Roman period to supply water to the town known as Sexi, the aqueduct served domestic and municipal needs and forms part of the broader Roman infrastructure network along the Mediterranean coast. Over time much of the structure fell into ruin; surviving parts have been preserved as archaeological remains.
The remains are located in Almuñécar on the Costa Tropical in the province of Granada, Andalusia, on Spain’s southern Mediterranean coast.
