How to Get to Ambronay#
Ambronay is best reached via Lyon airport and rail to Ambérieu-en-Bugey, followed by a short taxi or bus. The village is small; walking and local taxis cover most on-the-ground needs.
Lyon-Saint Exupéry (LYS): Lyon airport is the main international gateway for Ambronay (≈50-70 km by road). From the airport you can rent a car or take rail services to Ambérieu-en-Bugey and then a short taxi or bus to Ambronay.
Geneva / other regional airports: Geneva is a secondary option for some international flights but is farther by road (≈120-140 km).
Train: The nearest main station is Ambérieu-en-Bugey (served by TER and TGV on some routes); Ambérieu is about 12-20 km from Ambronay and taxis from the station take roughly 15-25 minutes. TER takes you to Ambérieu from Lyon in around 30-45 minutes.
Bus: Local departmental buses serve Ambronay from Ambérieu and nearby towns; services are limited so a taxi or pre-arranged transfer is often easier for arrivals outside peak hours.
