Amazon Theatre

The Amazon Theatre (Teatro Amazonas) is an ornate opera house in downtown Manaus built during the late-19th-century rubber boom and serves as a major cultural landmark. Its richly decorated interiors and distinctive dome make it a principal historic attraction in the city.

Inside the theatre visitors can see an elegant horseshoe-shaped auditorium, gilded foyers and decorative details reflecting European influences of the period. The building hosts concerts and the annual Festival Amazonas de Ópera, and guided tours present its architectural and historical highlights.
