Alberto de Agostini National Park

Alberto de Agostini National Park is a large protected area in Chile’s Magallanes Region covering parts of the western Tierra del Fuego archipelago, fjords and glaciated mountain terrain. The park is named after the explorer and missionary Alberto Maria de Agostini and preserves a remote, maritime landscape of islands, channels and ice.

Key attractions include steep mountain ranges, tidewater glaciers, narrow fjords and island coastlines that support seabirds, marine mammals and subantarctic vegetation. Much of the park is accessible only by boat and is frequented by expedition cruises and small vessels that follow established routes through the channels.

The park conserves landscapes shaped by glaciation and hosts a range of ecosystems from coastal shores to alpine terrain. Facilities are limited and most visitors experience the area as part of multi-day marine excursions rather than conventional road-based park visits.

Geographically the park lies in southern Chile’s Magallanes and Chilean Antarctica Region, encompassing islands and mainland areas of western Tierra del Fuego and nearby archipelagos.
