Agrihan is a volcanic island in the Northern Mariana Islands group in the northwest Pacific Ocean. The island contains the Mariana island chain’s highest point, Mount Agrihan.
A sparsely inhabited or uninhabited volcanic landscape with steep slopes rising to the island’s summit; natural features include tropical vegetation and volcanic terrain rather than developed visitor infrastructure. Access is by boat or occasional charter flights and is limited compared with more developed islands.
Formed by volcanic activity, the island has a history of small-scale habitation and periodic evacuation; it has seen limited development and remains largely natural in character. The peak has been the subject of mountaineering visits.
Located in the northern part of the Northern Mariana Islands, the island lies well north of the more populated southern islands and is accessible only by sea or chartered air services.
