Agios Stefanos is a monastery in the Meteora group of monastic foundations in Thessaly, Greece, dedicated to Saint Stephen and occupying a low sandstone pillar. The monastery combines older medieval origins with later reconstructions.
The complex includes a katholikon (main church) with fresco decoration, monastic living quarters and an entrance bridge that provides direct pedestrian access from the road. It is one of the Meteora monasteries commonly visited because of its relatively straightforward access.
The site has monastic origins from the post-Byzantine period and experienced rebuilding and repairs in subsequent centuries, producing the present collection of buildings and painted church interiors. It continues to function as part of the Meteora monastic community.
Agios Stefanos is located within the Meteora rock formations near Kalabaka in central Greece and is part of the cluster of monastic complexes that rise above the Thessalian plain.
