Aggtelek National Park protects a karst landscape in northeastern Hungary notable for its extensive cave systems. The park is internationally significant for the Baradla-Domica cave system, which continues across the border into Slovakia.

The Baradla cave passages open for public tours run for several kilometres of the system and the whole cave network measures roughly 25-26 kilometres in total. The park combines cave conservation with surface karst features, forests and traditional rural landscapes.

The protected area sits in Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County near the Hungarian-Slovak border, with the village of Aggtelek serving as a principal access point and visitor centre.

  • UNESCO listing: Part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site inscribed in 1995 together with the Slovak Karst, recognised for its extensive karst caves.
  • Cave access: Guided tours are required to enter the main show cave passages; periods and routes vary seasonally so check the visitor centre for schedules.
