Abrolhos Marine National Park (the Abrolhos archipelago) is an offshore protected area and can only be reached by boat. Licensed dive and sightseeing operators run trips to the islands from coastal towns on Brazil’s south-eastern coast, with Caravelas (Bahia) being the most common embarkation point for visits to the Abrolhos group. To visit you must travel to the departure town by road (or regional flight to a nearby airport) and join a licensed boat trip; sea transfer times vary by vessel and weather.
