How to Get to Wushan#

Wushan (Chongqing municipality) is typically reached from Chongqing via high-speed rail or long-distance coach after flying into Chongqing Jiangbei (CKG). Rail to the Wushan area is the most convenient option for tourists heading to the Three Gorges region.

By Air

Chongqing Jiangbei International Airport (CKG): The main international airport for Chongqing municipality; from Chongqing you can travel to Wushan by high-speed rail or long-distance coach. The combined airport-to-Wushan trip typically takes several hours depending on transfer choices.

Wanzhou / nearby regional airports: There are no large international airports in Wushan itself; regional transfers from nearby airports require onward rail or road travel to reach Wushan county seat.

By Train & Bus

Train: Wushan is served by high-speed and conventional rail stations on routes serving eastern Chongqing and the Three Gorges area (look for Wushanbei / Wushan North or the local Wushan station name on timetables). High-speed trains from Chongqing take several hours depending on the route and stops.

Bus / Coach: Long-distance buses connect Chongqing and nearby cities with Wushan; coaches are a common alternative if train schedules do not match your itinerary and provide direct service to the county seat or river ports.

How to Get Around Wushan#

High-speed rail is generally the best option for reaching Wushan from Chongqing; coaches provide cheaper but slower alternatives. Once there, local buses, shuttles and short taxi hops connect stations, river piers and tourist sites.

  • High-speed rail (CNY 80-250) - High-speed trains are the fastest and most comfortable way to reach Wushan from Chongqing and other major cities. Book tickets in advance for popular travel dates; stations are modern with clear schedules.
  • Long-distance coach (CNY 50-150) - Coaches serve many routes into Wushan and sometimes drop you nearer to rural destinations where trains do not. They can be cheaper than high-speed rail but may take longer depending on traffic and stops.
  • Local bus / shuttle (CNY 2-50) - Local buses and tourist shuttles operate around the Wushan area, connecting stations with river ports and scenic spots. Taxis can fill gaps but may be limited in very rural stretches.
  • Taxi (CNY 20-300) - Taxis and ride-hailing (where available) are useful for short transfers from stations to hotels or pier areas. Expect higher fares for long rural transfers.
  • Walking - Wushan town centres and scenic piers are compact and easily explored on foot. Wear comfortable shoes for uneven paths around viewpoints and riverfronts.
