Visit Sabang in the dry season (roughly April-October) for sun, calm seas and top snorkeling/diving visibility. The November-March wet season brings heavy rain, rough seas and fewer reliable boat days.

Dry Season
April - October · 25-31°C (77-88°F)
Sunny, calm seas and excellent visibility for diving and beaches; expect humid midday heat but far fewer downpours and mosquitoes than in the wet months.
Wet Season
November - March · 24-30°C (75-86°F)
Frequent heavy showers and choppy seas make boat trips and diving hit-or-miss, though lush green landscapes and quieter beaches reward flexible travelers.
Inter-monsoon
April & October · 25-31°C (77-88°F)
Unpredictable short, intense storms mixed with long sunny spells; good diving windows exist but pack a light rain jacket and keep plans flexible.

How to Get to Sabang

Sabang (Pulau Weh) is reached either by short local flights into Maimun Saleh (SBG) or by ferry from Banda Aceh after arriving at Sultan Iskandar Muda (BTJ). Plan for a sea crossing if you fly to Banda Aceh - ferries and fast boats run from Ulee Lheue to Balohan on Pulau Weh.

By Air

Maimun Saleh Airport (SBG): Small airport on Pulau Weh with limited scheduled connections (mostly from Banda Aceh). From SBG to Sabang town the trip is very short - taxis or ojek (motorcycle taxi) take about 5-15 minutes; expect roughly IDR 20,000-50,000 depending on luggage and negotiating ability.

From Ulee Lheue you take a public ferry or speedboat to Balohan (Sabang) - crossing time is about 1.5-2 hours on the public ferry and shorter on fast boats; public-ferry fares are low (often under IDR 50,000), while fast boats cost more.
