Romblon Island Travel Guide
The marble-rich island of Romblon is a quietly attractive tourist destination in the Philippines archipelago of the same name and is sandwiched between Tablas and Sibuyan.
The mountainous inner landscape paired with its pretty coastal topography make Romblon Island an attractive holiday destination, but the island is still lacking in amenities and infrastructure as locals find growing food crops in the harsh landscape hard, with most of their diet consisting of fish.
The island is, however, famous for its marble exports, and quartz and slate are also quarried, but the main income is through cattle farming. There are a few resorts and a wide range of accommodation to choose from, but in comparison to its larger sister islands it has less to offer visitors.
The main draw of Romblon is its bountiful beaches, clear seas and friendly locals and cruising round the island on a boat or snorkeling in the fertile waters are fun activities that will keep you busy for a few days.
Getting There & Away
The nearest international airport is in Manila and there are four flights a week between Manila and Romblon that take 30 minutes. Buses also run from the capital to Batangas City five times a week with a journey time of 3 hours, from where there are plenty of boats that will take you to the island.
